Meetings
Notes for any call, taken on your Mac. No bot joins.
Try saying
- “Yes.”
- When it asks “Take notes for this call?”, this starts the notes.
- “Yes.”
- On a “They asked…” nudge, this is Find it: it looks for the thing they asked for.
- “Yes.”
- On a promise you made, this is Remind me: it adds a reminder so you follow through.
- “Not now.”
- Dismisses the nudge. The call goes on.
- “Don’t show me these.”
- Turns that kind of nudge off. Turn it back on in Privacy.
- “Remind me Friday at 10 to send Priya the deck.”
- The Ask shortcut works during a call too.
Start notes
Click Start notes in Ambient → Meetings. Or turn on meeting suggestions: when a call app is open and your microphone is in use, it asks “Take notes for this call?”
Works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime and Slack huddles. If it plays on your Mac, it works.
During the call
A live transcript, with You and Them kept apart: your microphone and the call audio are transcribed separately, on your Mac. Rolling notes build as you talk.
Nudges appear when they matter. Answer with a click or by voice.
- They asked you something
- Find it: looks for the answer in your files, or on the web.
- You promised something
- Remind me: adds a reminder so you follow through.
- A question worth asking
- Copy: puts it on the clipboard to paste into the chat.
After the call
Click Stop and summarise.
- Summary
- What the call was about, in a few sentences.
- Decisions
- What was agreed.
- Action items
- Who does what, and by when.
- Questions for you
- What they asked that still needs an answer.
- Follow-up email
- A draft, ready to copy and send.

Let people know
When notes start, Ambient offers a message to paste into the call chat:
No bot joins, so nobody sees a notetaker in the participant list. Telling them is on you.
Audio and privacy
Audio is transcribed on your Mac and never saved. Only the transcript text is sent, to write the summary. Notes stay on your Mac until you delete them.
Hearing the call needs macOS 13 or later and the Screen Recording permission. Only audio is used. On Windows and Linux, only your microphone is transcribed for now.
