Suggestions
Turn them on and it offers one next step at the right moment. Decided on your Mac. Nothing is sent unless you accept.
When one appears, try saying
- “Yes.”
- Accepts the suggestion. “Yeah, do it”, “sure” and “go ahead” work too.
- “Not now.”
- Dismisses this one. It may offer it again another time.
- “Don’t show me these.”
- Turns that kind of suggestion off everywhere.
- “Not here.”
- Stops that kind of suggestion in this app only. “Not in this app” works too.
- “Don’t suggest that in Slack.”
- Mutes it in the app you name.
- “Stop.”
- Turns that kind of suggestion off.
Every moment it offers something
- A long email thread
- “Long thread. Summarise it?”
- An email that needs a reply
- “Draft a reply to this?” Say the gist and get the full email in your tone.
- A date in an email or Slack
- “There’s a date in this. Add it to your calendar?”
- A long draft you’re writing
- “Tighten this draft?” The shorter version appears with Replace, to swap it in.
- A product page
- “Check if it’s cheaper elsewhere?”
- A search you keep rephrasing
- “Want me to just answer that?”
- A long article
- “Summarise this page?”
- Spreadsheet formula errors
- “Fix these formula errors?”
- A stack trace or failing test
- “Explain this error?”
- A pull request in GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket
- “Review this pull request?”
- A git diff in your terminal
- “Write a commit message for this?”
- A meeting in the next 10 minutes
- “Meeting coming up. Brief you?” From your own Calendar.
- A call starting
- “Take notes for this call?” when a call app is open and the microphone is in use.
Answering
A suggestion is one line in the corner. Press Enter to accept or Esc to dismiss, or just say it. It never takes focus and fades after a few seconds.
Every kind can be turned on or off in Ambient → Privacy → Suggestions you get, including the apps you muted.
Quiet by design
- At most 3 an hour by default.
- The same window doesn’t get the same offer twice in an hour.
- Dismiss a kind and it backs off.
- Pause everything for an hour, or until tomorrow, from Privacy.
Turn it on
Turn on Offer suggestions in Ambient → Privacy. It is decided on your Mac from the window’s text. No model is called and nothing is sent until you accept. Mac only for now.
