Smart writing
Dictate as usual. Each time, it types what you said, polishes it, or writes it for you. A small chip says which, and one click takes it back.
Try saying
- “Running ten minutes late, start without me.”
- Typed as you said it. Plain speech never waits on a model.
- “So um the build is uh green now, let’s ship it.”
- Polished: “The build is green now. Let’s ship it.”
- “Tell him I can’t make it, be polite.”
- Written for you: a proper message, typed where your cursor is.
- “Make this more formal.”
- With text selected, it rewrites the selection. The chip reads “Rewritten · Undo rewrite · Edit”.
- “Shorter.”
- After it writes something, click Edit and say what to change: “shorter”, “warmer”.
- “Use my words.”
- Swaps in exactly what you said. “Undo that” and “just what I said” work too.
What it does
When it isn’t sure, it types what you said. Plain dictation never waits on a model.
- As said
- Your exact words, with your custom words applied. No chip. Used whenever it isn’t sure.
- Polished
- Messy speech cleaned up, in your words. Chip: “Polished · Use my words”. Needs AI polish on (the default for new installs).
- Written for you
- An instruction turned into the message. Chip: “Written for you · Use my words · Edit”.
- Rewritten
- Selected text rewritten as you asked. Chip: “Rewritten · Undo rewrite · Edit”.
Take it back
Click Use my words on the chip, or say “use my words”, “undo that” or “just what I said”. After a rewrite, Undo rewrite puts your original text back.
It learns per app: take its writing back in Slack and it rewrites less in Slack. See and undo what it learned in Ambient → Privacy → Writing → What you’ve told me.
The Writing setting
In Ambient → Account → Writing.
- Smart (default)
- Ambient decides each time.
- Always as I said
